Barry Island Aquathlon 2014

Barry Island Aquathlon 2014 is not open for public entries yet, and it is currently being tested by its organisers. You will not be able to make a test entry unless you have a relevant password.


650m sea swim, followed by a 5 kilometre run.


100 entries are available and close when full. Last entries 19 September 2014. The list of competitors will be published on this website. No entries on the day and no entries transferable. Race info emailed out 7 days prior to the event.



Athletes must be a minimum of 16 years of age on day of event. Under 18 will need parental consent - via post or on race morning - you will be contacted about this upon entry to the event.


Prizes will be awarded as follows.

  • First male Trophy
  • First female Trophy



Registration will be open from 07.30 until 08.45. We recommend that you arrive and register at least one hour before the start time.


Start Times

There will be a single wave of competitors which will start at 09.15. 



Wetsuits are compulsory for the swim. Gloves and socks will not be permitted. This will be a beach start, followed by a 650 metre sea swim. After completing the swim you will need to run up the beach and ramp to the transition area.



This will be in the Eastern Shelter at Whitmore Bay. You will need to take off your wetsuit and put on your running shoes. Only athletes and marshals will be allowed into this area.



The run will be a flatish 5 kilometers to both headlands of Whitmore Bay along pavement. There is a short section on grass. The run will end along the promenade at the Eastern Shelter.



Marshals will be on hand to guide you through the event. First aid will be present near transition. Safety cover will be in situ for the swim section of the race.


There will be a mandatory pre-race safety briefing at 09.00 which must be attended by all competitors.



Full refunds will be available up to Friday 19 September 2014. No refunds will be offered after this date.
