The Durty Triathlon - Long Hard Durty Tweet
DESCRIPTION aka "The Long Hard Durty", the Standard distance race will be a stiff challenge on a tough course in a spectacular location. The 2008 and 2011 Durty Triathlons were Triathlon Scotland's 'Event of the Year'. The 2011 race made it to the shortlist for British Triathlon Event of the Year. The loch has been chosen for its superb water quality and spectacular surroundings. There’s simply nowhere better in the UK to enjoy racing off-road.
CAMPING Pre and post-race on site camping is available at a small additional cost. Please make sure you pay this direct to the Tibbie Shiels Inn before pitching your tent.
REGISTRATION From 1100-1345 at Tibbie Shiels Inn, TD7 5LH. Car park opens at 1000. Keep your eyes posted on the event website (www.durtytriathlon.com) for the up to date timings and schedule. Collect your race number, swim cap, any final details etc. Bikes must be racked on your numbered slot before the Race Briefing.
BRIEFING Attendance is compulsary. Approx 1400hrs in Transition Area.
RULES Normal Triathlon Scotland rules will apply – see www.triathlonscotland.org for further details. We're also REALLY heavy on littering anywhere on the course or car park. Please comply as we depend on the goodwill of our landowner hosts. If you're spotted, this is an instant DQ offence - you've been warned!.
START Approximately 1430hrs. Precise times to be confirmed at Registration.
FORMAT It is your responsibility to make sure you turn in the correct place, do the right number of laps, and follow the course. We’ll do our best to place signs, markers and marshals to keep you right!.
Long Hard Durty
1500m Open Water Swim (wetsuits compulsory – wetsuits can be hired if required from www.thetricentre.com). Two laps, deep water start.
30km (ish) Off-Road Mountain Bike. This will be on a combination of tracks, forest roads and paths, and is a bit hilly (ahem!). There’s some technical stuff, but nothing really stupid – if you feel the need to walk a bit, no problem, we’d prefer you stay in one piece!. Two laps.
10km Off-Road Run. It's a single lap along a slightly undulating lochside path, then up, up, up and ultimately down, down, down. Nice. Except the nasty bits we might throw in again this year.
ENTRYClosing Date for Entries – 19th July 2013. The race has sold out in previous years, my advice?...... Enter early. If you miss the deadline, contact us by email and we'll see what we can sort out, but no promises - OK?
REFUNDSIf the event is cancelled due to circumstances out of the organisers control then no refunds will be offered. This includes situations such as adverse weather conditions or major incidents. If the event is cancelled due to circumstances within the organisers control then entrants will be offered a 50% refund. Entrants must apply in writing (via email) to claim their refund. No refunds will be granted after one month has passed from the event date. Entrants wishing to withdraw must inform the organiser by email. Entry fees will be refunded as follows; up to 19th June 75% refund (less any Entry Central fees), up to 13th July 50% refund (less any Entry Central fees). After 13th July - no refund. Entries are not transferable.
