The Ogier Jersey Triathlon 25th Anniversary
Start Location
Event Information
The Ogier Jersey Triathlon 25th Anniversary is not open for public entries yet, and it is currently being tested by its organisers. You will not be able to make a test entry unless you have a relevant password.

THE OGIER JERSEY TRIATHLON

This is a special year, being our 25th anniversary. The Jersey Tri Club has organised standard distance triathlon events, annually since 1986, and this years race is set to be a great weekend to celebrate this occassion.

This triathlon is aimed at all levels of fitness and ability, whether it's your first triathlon or you are the next Olympic hopeful. You can enter as an individual and complete all three disciplines on your own or enter the relay event with friends or colleagues and enjoy the race as a team. Triathlon is a multi-discipline event where people compete against the clock and each other. Swimming, cycling and running with no break except for the transition (this is a quick pit stop to change for the next discipline).

Race Registration and Transition Area

Race registration will be held at Bel Royal, St Aubin (nr. Bel Royal Slip), Jersey, Channel Islands at 4pm on Sat 28 August 2010, followed by the race brief at 5pm on Saturday afternoon (the day before the race). It is vital that all competitors attend. There will be no race briefing on the Sunday morning, prior to the race. The Transition area will also be at Bel Royal in the tarmaced car park and will be open on Sunday 29 August 2010 (race day), at 06:15 a.m. and will close at 06:45 a.m. Cycles must be in a road worthy condition and will be checked along with your helmet on the Sunday.

The Swim

The 1500m swim circuit begins with a beach start with two laps of a 750m triangular course in the sheltered sandy bay of St Aubin. Canoes and inflatable craft will provide swim cover.

The Bike

The 40km bike circuit takes a scenic loop of the west of the Island, traveling first along the south coast to St Aubin and rising up a gentle hill to the south-west corner. From there you travel north up the west coast along the picturesque Five Mile Road adjacent to St Ouen's Bay. You will then climb a short sharp hill to the north, complete a small loop circuit before returning mostly down hill through St Peters Valley and back to the transition area. The cycle route is not on closed roads, but marshals will be at key junctions along the way.

The Run

The 10km run is two laps of a 5km flat course along part of the cycle track on the St Aubin’s sea front. Drinks will be provided on the run and at the transition/finish area.

Who can take part?

The event is open to men and women of varied experience through novices, intermediates and experienced Triathletes, together with those wishing to form a team of 2 or 3 individuals. There is no official cut off time; however the JTC requests that all competitors enter with the intention of completing the Olympic distance in less than 4 hours.

The Individual Triathlon

This is open to anyone over the age of 17 (on 31/12/00). You must complete all three disciplines with no outside assistance. Your time will be taken from when you start the swim to when you finish the run.

The Relay Triathlon

A team can comprise two or three individuals. The team will form a relay and will race on the same course as the individuals but will start a few minutes later. Teams can be all male, all female or mixed. The cyclist only must be over 17 years of age at 31st Dec 2010, the cycle being on open roads.

Race Facilities

There is ample parking near transition with toilets and refreshments. The transition is situated on a tarmacked area 100m from the sea.

Race Rules

The event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon Association. As always, your bicycle must be in roadworthy condition and an approved cycle helmet must be worn. A BTA referee will be present throughout the day.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded in many categories including; Seniors, Veterans, Super-Vet's, Relay teams and many more. All competitors will receive a finishers t-shirt.
