This half iron distance is a Scottish ranked (open water) event and is one of only two such events in Scotland. The Orkney “middle distance” triathlon promises to be a unique experience, taking competitors around many world heritage sites on the Island.

Team/relay entries actively encouraged.

Swim
Starts at Scapa Beach and will be a two loop triangular course. Wetsuits are mandatory and neoprene caps are recommended. Expect the water temperature to be between 14 and 16c. The transition area is outside the Coastguard station. Public toilets are available.

Cycle
The cycle route is a circular 56 mile course over the West Orkney Mainland. The route is undulating and the roads are open but will be well marshalled and signed. Three food and water stations will be available on the route.

The run
