The 32nd Moray Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K

Scotland's Longest Running Marathon

The Moray Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k - Sunday 1st September 2013.

The first Moray Marathon was held in 1982 and since then it has developed into a 3-in-1 running event incorporating the Marathon , Half Marathon and 10k Road Races. All 3 races follow the same clockwise circuit.  The Marathon course starts in Cooper Park, Elgin.  The highest point, 64 metres, is reached at 3.5 miles.  At Burghead the route follows the coast east, passing near the spectacular grounds of Gordonstoun School, Duffus which hosts the start of the Half Marathon.  Lossiemouth is reached at 18 miles and the cemetery south of the town finds the 10k start.  The finish for all three events is Cooper Park, Elgin with the 13th century Elgin Cathedral forming a dramatic backdrop.

Moray contains a great diversity of landscapes which include sandy and rocky shores, rivers, lochs and mountainous areas.  Most of these aspects have been incorporated into the Moray Marathons and 10k routes by taking the runners on tarred roads, passing through woodlands, coastal areas, towns and villages.  The physical nature of these routes with the relatively mild and dry climate of Moray makes them both interesting and enjoyable to all competitors.

Registration is at Elgin Town Hall, where you will collect your race number, pins and commemorative T-shirt.

An extensive array of prizes for all categories includes trophies, plaques, bottles of Macallan and Grouse, and gift vouchers.

Water stations approximately every 2 miles, providing small, sports cap bottles of water.

Distance markers every mile "counting down" ie miles to go.

Safety: please run on the left-hand side of the road unless directed by marshals, whose instructions must be obeyed at all times.

Full results will appear on various running websites later that week.

All finishers will receive a medal.

Toilets at start of each race and at the finish area.

Full Marshalling around the course and first aid support from Outfit Moray.
