Organiser's Description

 

Wednesday 23rd August 2023,  19:00   Start Time.  This race is again sponsored by four local companies: Brodie Engineering, Pipeline Drillers, Berry B.P.I, and Vanilla Joe's.

 

Pre-Entry by 19th August 2023 with a limit of 400 competitors. Please enter asap to avoid disappointment and please note that the race limit was reached the last time the event was staged. Chips and bib numbers will be available from 5.30 pm on race day at the Scottish Maritime Museum, Linthouse Building, Harbour Road, Irvine KA 12 8BT. This event is pre-entry only and there will be no entries on the day of the race. The race is an SA licensed event conducted under UKA Rules.  The results, this year, will also be used for the Ayrshire 10K Road Race Championships. There will be showering facilities at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside Street, Irvine KA12 8PE after the race.   Prize presentations and refreshments will be privided near the finishline.

CHIP-PIN TIMING by "What's My Time?" WILL BE USED

The Route -

The race is held on paths and roads, in the Beachpark/Harbour area of Irvine starting at Vanilla Joe's and finishing on the harbourside. The course is relatively flat and suitable for runners of all abilities. The course has been measured by a SAL approved measurer. Please arrive in sufficient time to get chips fitted and to get to the start of the race, which is approx 3 mins walk from the chip & bib number uplift area at the Scottish Maritime Museum in Harbour Road. 

Each runner will receive a race momento on completion of the race AND Vanilla Joe's  are offering each race participant a post race ice cream - just show your bib number.

A UK ATHLETICS RULE STATES THAT FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS, HEADPHONES MUST NOT BE WORN DURING THE RACE. ANY RUNNER IGNORING THIS RISKS DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE RACE.

PARKING :

There is car parking available at the Scottish Maritime Museum where you pick up your chip and bib number. Toilet facilities are also available there. These facilities will be available from about 17.30 until 19.00. There is about a 3 minute walk to the start.
 

All competitors must be at least 15 years old on the day of the race.

 

If making a block booking on behalf of other runners you must supply details for each runner and not enter them all under one name and club.

Prizes:                                                                                           

 Age Groups: Men and Women:  1st, 2nd, 3rd,  1st at least 40, 1st at least 50, 1st at least 60. Team prizes: 1st men's team (4 to count)  1st women's team (3 to count)
