Floors Castle Duathlon

Join us for the inaugural Floors Castle Duathlon on September 29th 2024. 

An exciting blend of running and cycling set against the stunning backdrop of Floors Castle, near Kelso, in the Scottish Borders.

Prepare to push your limits as you navigate the picturesque grounds of Floors Castle before setting out to explore the quiet rolling roads of the beautiful Borders countryside. Choose between our Standard Distance Duathlon for a test of endurance, or opt for the Sprint Distance for a quicker, adrenaline-fuelled race. Take on the challenge solo or team up with friends for an unforgettable relay experience.

Whether you're a seasoned athlete seeking a new challenge or a beginner looking to embrace the thrill of duathlon racing, our event caters to all levels of fitness and experience. The Floors Castle Duathlon is brought to you by the same team that delivers the hugely successful East Fortune Duathlon (Triathlon Scotland's Event of the Year 2023). Trail Races

Standard Distance Duathlon

Run 10km | Bike 42km | Run 5km

The Standard Distance Duathlon consists of a 10km run, followed by a 43km bike and finishing with a 5km run. There will be a separate Female and Open categories (in accordance with British Triathlon’s Transgender Policy) with prizes awarded in both the senior and veteran age groups.

Please note, for the safety of our athletes and volunteers there will be a time cut-off of 1hr20m for the first 10km run. If you think you are unlikely to make this time cut-off we would suggest entering the Sprint Distance Duathlon instead.

Standard Distance Duathlon Team Relay

Run 10km | Bike 42km | Run 5km

Enter in teams of 2 or 3 to tackle the challenge of the Standard Distance Duathlon together. Only one athlete can complete each section of the duathlon, but this can be done in any combination that you want. There will be separate categories for Open (all male or mixed) and Female teams.

At this stage, only one person will be asked to submit their details to enter a team. In the booking confirmation email you will receive a link to a Team Entry Form. Please ensure this form is completed with the details of all the team members at least 7 days before the race.

Sprint Distance Duathlon

Run 5km | Bike 22km | Run 2.5km

The Sprint Distance Duathlon consists of a 5km run, followed by a 23km bike and finishing with a 2.5km run. The Sprint Distance Duathlon takes place on the same course as the Standard and there are are no time cut-offs for this race.

British Triathlon Race Pass

In order to ensure you have adequate third party insurance for the race you will need a valid home nation race licence. If you have Core or Ultimate membership of Triathlon Scotland (or Welsh Triathlon or Triathlon England) then this provides you with a race licence. Please ensure you add your membership number to your Entry Central account and bring proof of your current membership to registration on race day.

If you don't have home nation membership you will need to purchase a British Triathlon race pass. This option will automatically be included at checkout if you don't enter a home nation membership number.

T-Shirts and Medals

We are conscious of the environmental impact of our event and want to be part of the solution and not the problem. We also recognise that you might want to celebrate your achievement. For that reason we are only providing Race T-Shirts and Finisher’s Medals to those who would like them.

Event T-Shirt

You can purchase a race T-shirt as part of your entry and this will be available for collection at registration.

Finisher’s Medal

If you would like a wooden medal as a memento of your achievement, please select this option on your entry form. If you would prefer not to receive a medal we will donate the cost of your medal to charity instead.

You must enter on or before 31st July 2024 if you wish to be guaranteed to receive a Finisher's Medal or be able to purchase a Race T-Shirt.

Race Belts

You will be provided with a race number at registration. The number needs to be displayed to the front during the run sections and to the back during the cycle section. The easiest way to do this is with an elasticated race belt around your waist. You can either choose to provide your own race belt or purchase a Zone3 race belt alongside your entry.
